Refining Your Artist Statement

with Matt Allyn Chapman

Monday, February 17, 7 pm to 9 pm

$40

In this two hour session, Instructor Matt Allyn Chapman will guide participants who are looking to hone their creative communication through refinement of their Artist Statement. An important piece of writing, the Artist Statement is meant to serve as your representative when you are not present. It can be poetic, to the point, abstract, or factual- it's about finding your unique perspective on how you engage with the world through your art.

We ask that participants come prepared with an artist statement already in hand, even if it's only a draft. This workshop will provide time to share your existing statement, ask questions, ideate, revise, and receive meaningful feedback from your fellow participants and instructor.

Matt Allyn Chapman is an artist, co-owner of curio. Gallery & Creative supply in downtown Lancaster with his wife Nicole Duquette, & long time professor at Pennsylvania College for Art & Design. In addition to these roles, he is a member of the Echo Valley Art Group and board member of the Demuth Foundation & Lancaster Museum of Art. He holds a BFA in Illustration from PCA&D, and his MFA in Studio Art from PAFA.
